What to bring to a first meeting
For bookkeeping
Bank and credit card statements for the period, access to your current accounting file if you have one, and a sense of how many transactions you run a month.
For taxes
Last year's return, all W-2s, 1099s and 1098s, business income and expense records, and any notice you received from the IRS or the Franchise Tax Board.
For an audit or notice
The letter itself, the return for the year in question, and whatever records you have for that year. Do not call the agency before we talk.
